Literary and Journalistic Translation

Translation is not only about transferring the exact same words in the exact same order from one language to another.

Part art and part science, a good translation is a rebirth: the essence maintained in a brand-new organism. With luck, not just the words will be translated, but the layered meanings behind them as well.

Words are important, and words matter. Words can start wars and words can bring about peace. And it is my belief that the more people in this world we can hear — even if we don’t speak the same language — the better off we all are.

(Note: I’m still trying to figure out how to make posts only to specific pages here on WordPress. I will have this sorted out — and hopefully this page filled with work samples! — shortly. In the meantime, thank you for your patience! :))
